I figured I should probably test the mailing list before the re@ folks
try to use it. The schedule for 4.9's release on the Web site got
updated (http://www.freebsd.org/releases/4.9R/schedule.html) and if
it is still accurate we should start to see some traffic about it
tomorrow.

Just a quick reminder. This list will be for announcements only.
Please continue to use the hubs@ list for discussions. Part of the
reason for setting up this list was to reduce the chances of a
"premature release" done on slashdot so please don't circulate the
messages beyond this list. With the releases being staged now there
is a chance that they might need to cancel a release and re-roll the
bits at the last minute so having the bits become publically downloadable
before the scheduled release time would be bad.

Thanks.

The i386 FTP directory and i386 disc2 are now available on ftp-master.

disc1 and alpha bits are coming soon.

We're using this separate alias so that no "announcements" leak out
until everything is in place and we've sent the official announce.
Thanks for your help in this.

Hi,

I just found that 4.9-RELEASE permission bits may not be correct
on ftp-master.us (may be ftp-master is not correct?)

  drwxr-xr-x 1024 2003/10/28 06:50:27 4.9-RELEASE

I think we should fix this permission asap :)

Regards,
Rong-En Fan, ftp6.tw

Thanks. But that's the permissions Murray set on ftp-master
itself so those are the permissions everywhere else too. I'm
not quite sure why he set it up that way. I let him know
about it immediately after he sent the message to mirror-announce
yesterday and he didn't change anything so I can only assume
this is what he wanted.

Thanks for letting us know though.

Just in case some of you want to keep them for some reason and need
to do something special... We will be removing the 4.7 bits from
ftp-master some time this weekend.

Thanks for your help through the 4.9 release.
